A Dive Into the Past: Washington’s Titan Missile Silo

September 11, 2016 By Brandon 15 Comments

In the middle of Washington state’s farm country, is a unique dive that I learned about when researching the Valhalla missile silo in Texas. Once I found out about this Titan missile silo dive, I added it to our map and hoped to get to the area eventually. The site is fairly remote from any…

Can you even dive in Burlington, Vermont?

September 22, 2015 By Brandon 3 Comments

Kerensa decided that we should book it to Burlington, Vermont to get out of the summer heat of North Carolina. Of course, the first thing I did was get online to see if it was even possible to scuba dive in Burlington. It turns out that yes, you can dive in Burlington and it’s pretty…

Diving Into Deliverance

December 23, 2014 By Brandon 1 Comment

Lake Jocassee is in South Carolina and holds a few interesting secrets. One of which is the Mt. Carmel Cemetery. It was sent to the bottom in 1973 when the valley was flooded to create a reservoir for the new nuclear power plant. The infamous movie “Deliverance” featured the Mt. Carmel cemetery. As I wound…

Shipwrecks and Sharks in North Carolina

October 25, 2014 By Brandon Leave a Comment

Once I learned that 30 miles off the coast of Morehead City, NC there lies a graveyard of shipwrecks inhabited by Sandtiger Sharks, I knew I had to go. Here the Gulf Stream sweeps warm waters up from the Caribean, bringing with it good visibility and a plentiful supply of food to support a large population…

Antique Boat Museum – 1000 Islands, NY

October 22, 2014 By Brandon Leave a Comment

Ever since I left this place, I keep telling everyone I meet to go there. Located in the beautiful and unique 1000 Islands area of Northern New York, it is a very special place for lovers of shiny, old wood. What the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Museum does for aviation, the Antique Boat Museum in Clayton, NY…

Diving Deep in the Heart of Texas – Valhalla Nuclear Missile Silo

September 21, 2014 By Brandon 8 Comments

On a drive back from a dive near Austin, my new dive buddy mentioned that there was a decommissioned nuclear missile silo that was dive-able in Texas. If you know me, you will know there is no way I am leaving Texas without diving it. So I got on the googles and turned up the…

Getting Acclimated in Austin

September 18, 2014 By Kerensa 2 Comments

We made Austin our first long-term stop after setting out on our full-time travels.  This made sense for a variety of reasons:  it’s close to Livingston, TX where we had to stop and set up residence, our good friends Sarah and Brian are there and I wanted to visit them for an extended period, Brandon…

Our Mission

Kerensa and Brandon- Drive Dive Devour

Drive- We switched our stationary life to travel the US in a motorhome and explore all its unique regions and cities. We’ll give you the low down on our favorite finds, so you can experience each locale with us or when you visit yourself!

Dive- You can scuba dive anywhere if you try hard enough!  The Keys were a fantastic diving spot, but the Texas missile silo was pretty cool, too.  Brandon’s out to prove the US is a dive destination.

Devour- We love to find local foods and experience regional dishes when we travel whether it’s at a restaurant, in a shop, or at the farmer’s market.  We’ll dive into regional cuisine tasting what is on offer and then recreating some of the dishes at home- often with a vegetarian twist.
